Official Minutes of The Lions Club of Frederick
February 23, 2000
The Lions Club of Frederick held the February Board meeting on February 22, 2000 at the Silo Factory. The meeting was called to order by Lion President Mel Castle at 12:00 Noon. The following individuals were present:

1. The minutes for the February 1, 2000 Board meeting were approved.
2. The Treasurer reported $3,156.87 in the Administrative Fund and $11, 424.36 in the Activities Fund. The January 2000 report was approved.
3. The Board approved the membership application for Bill Lynch. Bill has a life membership in another club. He does not want to transfer his membership from his present club but instead wants to start attending our club as a new member.
4. Lion Charlie Beekley has donated his time and energy to develop a web page for the club. The Board gave approval to continue with his efforts. Thanks for a job well done!
5. Several requests have been received from individuals for funding. Until the Board has a clear picture of how our two major fund-raisers will run, they have all been denied. A letter from the club will be mailed to the individuals. Lion Chris Murray made a $250 donation to Susan Brenner who made a trip to Mexico in February to assist the needy with eye exams and recycled glasses. Susan was a speaker for us in 1998.
6. Big Brothers / Big Sisters will host their annual Bowl-a-Thon on May 6th and 7th. Lion Charlie Beekley will be the coordinator for this event.
7. The Lions Little League is fundraising to raise $30,000 to install lights. We will wait until later in the year to make a decision.
8. The District Convention will be held in Ocean City, MD on May 10-13.
9. A few members have still not paid their dues. A final notice will be sent and then they will be removed from membership if still unpaid by the end of March.
10. The Golf Tournament will be at Westwinds Golf Club on Wednesday, May 17th. Raffle tickets are being printed.
On motion, the meeting was adjourned at 1:00 PM.
