Official Minutes of The Lions Club of Frederick August 22 2000 The Lions Club of Frederick held it monthly Board meeting on August 22, 2000 at The Red Horse Restaurant. The meeting was called to order by Lion President JoAnn Hevey at 12:00 Noon. The following individuals were present: JoAnn Hevey Jenifer Sutton Betty Lester Jean Buchen Mel Castle Chris Murray Dave Godwin Jack Derr Mark Alexander 1. The minutes for the July 24, 2000 Board meeting were approved. 2. The Treasurer reported $1,600.88 in the Administrative Fund and $12,255.66 in the Activities Fund. The July 1999-June 2000 report and the July 2000 report were approved. 3. Lion Charlie main donated several miscellaneous Lions items to the Club that he has collected over the years. We appreciate his kind gift! 4. The District Social is in Hagerstown, Maryland on October 7th. We would like to have representation for this event. 5. The next Zone Meeting is September 21st, 7pm at Glade Valley. 6. Lion Jack Derr and Lion Jenifer Sutton donated time to assist with Flight for Sight, a non profit that give free eye screens for people. This occurred at the Frederick Airshow. 7. Lion Mark Alexander and Lion Scott Oden have asked to have some assistance and no longer be the primary manpower behind the financial issues of the Motorcycle Races. 8. The Finance Committee met on August 1, 2000 and reviewed the Club books for the year ended June 20, 2000. They determined that no apparent defalcations or misappropriation of funds have occurred for the year. They recommended that the Clubs' books and records for the year ended June 30, 2000 be accepted. 9. Lion Dave Godwin made a motion that the money allocated for the FCC scholarship ($1,500) and the United Way ($500) for the fiscal year 1999-2000 be reallocated to the Frederick Lions Little League team to help pay for their new lights. A plaque will also be made to honor Judge Byron Thompson, Charlie Main, and Jim Grove. This motion was approved. 10. Lion Dave Godwin made a motion to increase annual dues from $50.00 to $75.00. There will be a ½ a year minimum when proration is necessary. A new member initiation fee of $25 will also be established. This motion was also approved and will be enacted immediately. 11. Lion Mark Alexander suggested that we establish a 12 meal minimum that requires prepayment for all active members. This will be brought to the membership by Lion President Joann Hevey. 12. A motion was made by Lion President JoAnn Hevey to reallocate our FCC scholarship to the Charles V. Main Scholarship for future years. The scholarship amount will be reduced from $1500.00 to $1,000.00. The $500.00 remainder will be reallocated to Youth athletics. This motion was approved.
